If You’re Done Ice Fishing, Why Not Go Ice Skating…Only in Montreal
In the winter, the Bonsecour Basin at the Old Port is turned into an outdoor skating rink. Possibly the best outdoor place to stretch those legs and skate to the music. I have photographed this location many times, but it is such a beautiful place and it is always hard to resist taking touristy shots of this place.
Both photos were edited in Lightroom 4. The first image with the use of the color faded preset that I have been using. I like how it brought out the subtle teal paint of the Pavilion. I converted the image to black and white as well, just some simple tweaks on the highlights and shadows, nothing too elaborate. I was going to post one, but I was having a hard time choosing which one, so you get to see them both. Maybe you can tell me which photo you prefer…

I like them both, but I like the faded color shot better — there is a nostalgic feeling about it.
These are both fantastic, Gracie! Congrats.
Thank you, Sherry
Muy Buena Fortografía… Perfecta Transformación En Blanco & Negro… Saludos…
Beautiful high-key work, Eva
Thank you, Graham.
Very nice. I prefer the colored version and would love to go ice skating there.
Thanks! It’s a fun family activity. I’m sure you’ll enjoy
I like the top one more! Beautiful!
Thank you, Tomaz
I like the look of both the images individually
But comparing the two, I prefer the black and white
Thank you for the feedback
Both are terrific shots Gracie but I do love the subtle color in the first.
Thank you, Edith. I do like the first image too, I think it does give the scene a little bit more life.
I like the monochrome, because it gives more definition to the lines and angles. It also adds to the image’s storyline
–giving a more romantic feel That’s strange because the softer image does that too, but the second brings a different sort of nostalgia.
Thank you, Sally! The lines and angles are definitely more defined on the monochrome.
Those are very nicely done Gracie!
Thank you, Phil
