We had a really nasty storm last night, a tornado touched down in Montreal, honestly the first one I’ve experienced since I moved here. It was brief, but it somehow left a significant devastation in the Mirabel area according to the news. I went back to the bird sanctuary early this morning to see if the area was wrecked too, thankfully, it appeared as if the storm missed it completely. I didn’t notice anything different, except that the herons are out and about.

Although I admit that I am not a morning person, I have been enjoying some early morning walks inside the bird sanctuary lately. These were taken last weekend when I decided to get up before 6AM to go down to the sanctuary.
I took this photo while waiting for the gates to open (I didn’t realize they don’t allow people in until after 7AM). I was told not to go anywhere closer to this geese family as the mother (I assumed this was the mother) has a tendency to attack if she feels that her goslings may be threatened.
I have been going to the sanctuary for a long time now but this was the first time I actually saw and was able to photograph a yellow warbler. I am definitely going back there again tomorrow to see if I can find more birds I haven’t yet encountered.
I have been secretly admiring Kim Klassen’s textures and Tuesday Texture Challenge for a while now, but I haven’t had a chance to actually join. Today, however, I am posting my very first entry to this challenge. Thanks to Karen for the quick reminder. I wouldn’t have remembered had I not stumble upon her awesome blog.
The current theme is centered around the word “Light”. I choose this image because of the soft sunlight emanating from the corner of the frame which gives the scene a lovely glow.
The recipe for this photo:
1.In Photoshop Elements 9, added a Hue and Saturation Layer to slightly enhancing the colors
2. Added Kim’s “kk_faved” texture, changed blending mode to Soft Light & left the opacity at 100%
3. Added Kim’s “kk_ohMy” texture, changed blending mode to Screen and opacity at 8%
4. Finally added the watermark
